Why Birth Matters?

My joy in reflecting, sharing and celebrating the experiences and knowledge that Birth Matters is why this web-site has been created, why it and my services are called Birth Matters. I hope others will join me on this web site to share what we are all learning about why and how ‘Birth Matters’.

To launch this site I am linking readers to a video of US  midwives  explaining, discussing and celebrating their experiences and evidence-based knowledge of how ‘Birth Matters’ to women, their babies and communities! These midwives speak of birth as transformative as well as hard work for women, their babies, partners and communities as well as significant for the future of our planet. My experiences as a midwife in the UK, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand have shown me the truth of what these midwives say about how ‘Birth Matters’!
